One of the world’s largest and fastest growing parts of the population is drifting towards dictatorship.

FOX’s Lilian Woo reports in “The Buzz”:

Alarming progress towards dictatorship is taking place in Central America.

Latino governments are trampling on individual liberties by passing repressive laws in a bid to stifle dissent.

According to one US-based group, Latin America’s dictatorships have become far more recent phenomena than most people realize.

In the past 35 years, governments have routinely used jail sentences to silence political opponents and silence journalists.

Political analyst and author David Addington says Latam governments are using repression to distract from corruption.

(Addington) “So you have governments that are very concerned about failing polls, very concerned about failing economies, saying, ‘Okay, we’ll add any number of addictions to our economies. Nobody has any control over us, and so our economy isn’t really working, and so we’ll add the drugs.’ So we really should worry about this because it is … It is a very bad cycle that is playing out before our eyes.”

A powerful way to stifle the rights of your people to freely express themselves.
