Evolution of Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau’s OMG Rivalry

Through the first two rounds of the Genesis Open, Brooks Koepka had birdied five of his first nine holes, while two-time defending champ Bryson DeChambeau — to make things even better — had birdied five of his first nine holes.

This was far from the first time Koepka and DeChambeau have traded the lead on the Champions Tour, but the stage was a little bigger for the pair at Riviera Country Club on Sunday.

So with the leaders beginning the round eight shots apart, there was already plenty to be discussed and analyzed in an attempt to predict how the tournament would play out. And then a meme hit.

Aargh. 20-under.

Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau.

Well, that turned out to be true. Koepka shot 69 on Sunday and finished tied with DeChambeau at 17-under for the tournament. The two will go head-to-head for a $1 million check on Monday, with a win giving Koepka the trifecta of a PGA Tour, European Tour and Champions Tour win in a season.

But because of one meme, DeChambeau will be hearing his name echoed and brought to light at every turn after the two finished their final round.
